About this experience
The Japanese head spa in Hurghada is a full hour for the scalp, not a hair wash with a nicer chair. You lie back on a dedicated head spa bed, the lights come down, and one therapist works only on your head, neck and shoulders while warm water falls over your scalp like a small indoor waterfall. Free pickup and drop-off from any hotel, resort, apartment or hostel inside Hurghada is included.
Why a head spa after the Red Sea
Salt water, pool chlorine, sun cream and hard hotel water leave the scalp tight and the lengths dry by day three of a Hurghada holiday, and a two-minute shower wash does nothing for either. A head spa is built the other way round: the cleanse is slow and worked in section by section, the warm water runs long enough to carry the build-up away, and the massage meets a warm, softened scalp instead of a tight one. Guests describe the after-feeling as lightness rather than cleanliness.
The 8 steps of our Japanese head spa
1. Settle in (5 min). You lie back on the head spa bed, a warm towel goes over the shoulders, and the therapist starts with a light touch on the scalp and shoulders so the body can let go.
2. Scalp check and cleanse (5 min). The therapist reads your scalp, dry, oily, flaky or tight, and cleanses it properly, lifting the oil, salt, sunscreen and product that build up on holiday.
3. Warm-water waterfall (10 min). The part everyone books it for: continuous body-temperature water running over the scalp while fingertips move underneath it. Most guests go quiet within two minutes.
4. Shampoo and fingertip scalp massage (15 min). A gentle shampoo worked through the whole scalp with slow fingertip pressure, held longer wherever you are tight, from the hairline to the base of the skull.
5. Nourishing hair mask (10 min). A conditioning mask goes on the mid-lengths and ends while the therapist keeps working the scalp and the back of the neck.
6. Neck and shoulder massage (5 min). A head spa that ignores the shoulders is only doing half the job, so the neck and the tops of the shoulders get their own five minutes.
7. Rinse and warm-water relaxation (5 min). Everything is rinsed under warm water and you drift for a few minutes with nothing left to do.
8. Gentle dry and serum (5 min). Hair is towel-dried and finished gently, then a scalp and hair serum chosen for your hair type goes on.
Who books this
Divers and snorkellers, whose hair and scalp take the worst of the salt. Guests off long or overnight flights, who arrive with pressure behind the eyes and shoulders somewhere near their ears. Men as much as women, often after a diving day, short hair included. And people who saw a head spa online, found the waiting lists at home, and discovered they can have one in Hurghada for €25. Most guests come from Sheraton Road, Hurghada Marina, El Mamsha, Sakkala and Old Town hotels.
Head spa and your hair
This is a wellness and scalp-care treatment, not a medical one. Guests with a flaky, oily or tight scalp usually notice a real difference in comfort, because the cleanse clears build-up and the massage increases circulation, but it does not replace a dermatologist and we make no medical claims. Coloured or keratin-treated hair is fine, just tell us so the right mask goes on. Your hair leaves clean, soft and gently dried, not styled; if you want a blow-dry for dinner, say so when you book.
What to Expect
Plan around 1 hour 30 minutes door-to-door: 60 minutes on the head spa bed plus the free pickup and drop-off inside Hurghada. El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi are +€10 per guest. From Sheraton Road the drive is 8 minutes; from the Marina, 12.
Come with your hair as it is, unwashed is genuinely better because there is more for the treatment to do. Tell the therapist at the start whether you want the scalp massage light or firm, and mention coloured or keratin-treated hair, a sensitive scalp, or any allergy to fragrance.
Book it for a moment when you do not need to be anywhere straight after. Your hair is dried gently rather than styled, so an afternoon slot before a quiet evening works best.
What's Included
Frequently Asked Questions
A dedicated scalp treatment rather than a hair service: a deep scalp cleanse, a continuous warm-water waterfall rinse, a long fingertip scalp massage, a nourishing hair mask and a neck and shoulder massage. The goal is a clean, calm scalp and deep relaxation. Clean hair is the side effect.
5 minutes to settle, 5 minutes of scalp check and cleanse, 10 minutes under the warm-water waterfall, 15 minutes of shampoo and fingertip scalp massage, 10 minutes with a nourishing hair mask, 5 minutes on the neck and shoulders, 5 minutes of rinsing, and 5 minutes to dry your hair gently and apply a scalp serum.
It is a wellness and scalp-care treatment, not a medical one. A flaky, oily or tight scalp usually feels noticeably more comfortable afterwards because the cleanse clears build-up and the massage boosts circulation, but it does not replace a dermatologist.
Yes to both. Short hair makes the scalp work easier, and a good share of our head spa guests in Hurghada are men who book it after a diving day.
Your hair is towel-dried and finished gently with a serum suited to your hair type. A blow-dry or styling for the evening is not included, mention it when you book if you want one.
Yes, anywhere inside Hurghada (Sheraton Road, Marina, Mubarak 6, Old Town, El Mamsha, Sakkala) is free both ways. El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi are €10 per guest.
