About this experience

The gel manicure in Hurghada is the one that actually lasts the trip: nails shaped and prepped, a base coat, two layers of gel colour cured hard under a UV/LED lamp, and a high-shine top coat. It stays glossy and chip-free for 2 to 3 weeks, through sea water, sun cream and packing. Free pickup and drop-off from any hotel, resort, apartment or hostel inside Hurghada is included.

Why gel is the holiday manicure

Regular polish on a Red Sea holiday chips on day two. Snorkelling, hotel towels, suitcase zips and factor 50 all work against it, and there is never a calm half hour to touch it up. Gel is different because it is cured, not air-dried: each layer hardens under the lamp in 30 seconds, so it leaves the salon at full strength. There is no drying time at all, you can put your hands straight back in your bag and go.

The 9 steps of our gel manicure

1. Sanitising. Hands cleaned, tools opened from a sealed pouch in front of you.

2. Old colour removed. Any existing polish or gel comes off first, with an acetone soak rather than a drill.

3. Shaping. Length and shape to your choice, square, round, oval or almond.

4. Cuticle care. Softened and pushed back, never cut aggressively. Gel needs a clean nail edge to grip.

5. Surface prep. Dust removed and the nail plate dehydrated, the step that decides whether gel lasts 3 weeks or 3 days.

6. Base coat. A thin bonding layer, cured under the lamp.

7. Two colour layers. Your shade applied in thin, even coats, each one cured separately.

8. Top coat. The gloss layer, cured last, and it is the shine that still looks new two weeks later.

9. Cuticle oil. A finishing oil and a short hand massage to settle the skin around the nail.

Who books this

Guests at the start of a holiday who want to stop thinking about their nails, anyone with a wedding or event during the trip, and travellers flying on somewhere else afterwards. Most guests come from Sheraton Road, Hurghada Marina, El Mamsha and Old Town hotels.

Making it last

Treat the nails as jewellery, not tools. Cuticle oil daily keeps the edges from lifting, gloves for washing up and long hot baths shorten the life of any gel, and chlorine is harder on it than sea water. Never pick it off, that takes the top layer of your own nail with it. Come back for a proper soak-off, or book a fresh set.

What to Expect

Plan around 1 hour 30 minutes door-to-door: 60 minutes at the station plus the free pickup and drop-off inside Hurghada. El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi are +€10 per guest. From Sheraton Road, the drive is 8 minutes; from the Marina, 12.

The full colour range is out on the table, nudes through to reds and darks, and there is no supplement for any shade. Tell the technician at the start about brittle or peeling nails, gel from another salon that needs removing, or allergies, we adapt the prep accordingly.

Removing an existing set adds about 10 minutes. Mention it when you book so we hold the extra time.

Frequently Asked Questions

2 to 3 weeks with the shine intact. Sea water is fine; chlorine and long hot baths are what shorten it.

Not when it is removed properly. We soak it off with acetone rather than drilling it away, and the nail underneath comes out intact. The damage people talk about comes from picking gel off.

60 minutes at the station, around 1 h 30 door-to-door including pickup and drop-off inside Hurghada.

Yes. It adds about 10 minutes to the session, so mention it when you book and we hold the time.

Yes, anywhere inside Hurghada (Sheraton Road, Marina, Mubarak 6, Old Town, El Mamsha) is free both ways. El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi are €10 per guest.
